Romans 10:13-14
“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. How then can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?”
Heard The Preacher Say
Heard the preacher say a long time ago.
Better watch your step girl, or you’ll reap what you sow.
I knew better than to run with that crowd,
But I wanted to be cool and I wanted to stand out.
Thought I could live like I wanted and still get by.
Wouldn’t listen to no one, wouldn’t take their advice.
Kept playin’ games with the devil and he’d always win.
Windin’ right back where I started all over again.
CHORUS
And what it got me was tears and pain goin’ down the wrong road.
Years of strain, carried such a heavy load.
One night stands and a broken heart.
Lookin’ for a way to make a new start.
Twenty years went by when I heard a TV preacher say.
“Come to Jesus, the truth, the life, the way.
I fell to my knees and I begin to cry
That’s where I found the Savior and a brand new life.
CHORUS
And what it got me was my sins forgiven and a robe of white.
The door shut to my past, I walked from death to life.
Hopes and dreams of a better day to come.
Peace and joy and a one way ticket home.
Now I wasn’t in a church when He came to me that day.
He met me right where I was at, heard what I had to say.
I knew I wasn’t worthy, my life like filthy rags,
But He took me as I was and I never once looked back.
