Andrea Esquivel: Music

Headed for the Homestretch

(Andrea Esquivel)

Andrea Esquivel
I wrote this song for my sister-in-law who died of ovarian cancer this past June. I believe I learned more about living during the short time I got to spend with her while she was sick, than I have over the past 47 years of my life. She was a woman of very strong faith and loved God with her whole heart and never did she complain about her circumstances but always kept fighting the good fight of faith.

2 Timothy 4:6-8
“For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time has come for my departure. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day– and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing.”
Headed For The Homestretch (Becky’s Song)

(CHORUS)
I’m headed for the homestretch now.
I know it won’t be long.
I’ll stand at those pearly gates
and worship at your throne.
And You’ll be there to meet me
with your arms open wide.
I can almost see it now,
when I cross that finish line.

“Well done good and faithful friend”,
is what I’ll hear you say.
How I’ve waited to hear those words on that beautiful day.
Not a care in the world, not a tear to cry,
Just standing in your presence, not aware of the time.
I’ve fought a good fight and I’ve run the race,
And now I’m goin’ home. (CHORUS)

Please don’t cry for me when I’m gone,
I’m not that far away.
I’m in heaven where I belong and I’ll wait for that day.
That I’ll be there to meet you, with Jesus at my side.
I can almost see it now, when you cross that finish line.

Bridge: I have kept the faith, and there’s a crown the Lord will give me on that day... (CHORUS)
