My Dad was a farmer who raised my three older brothers, an older sister and myself. From the time I can remember he was either on the tractor, on a horse, helping some neighbor or cooking a meal. He always gave us everything we needed, not necessarily everything we wanted. But not one of us ever felt unloved by him. My Dad is my hero!
THAT’S MY DAD
He got up early every morn,
He was plowin’ the fields before I was born.
Raised five kids on a farmer’s pay,
I was the youngest of ‘em all,
Daddy’s girl to this day....
CHORUS
He had great big hands and God in his heart.
Always drove a pickup, preferred it to a car.
Owned a John Deere tractor, rode a big red horse.
I never saw him cry, but He did I’m sure....
He worked hard all is life.
Sweatin’ in the sun, workin’ into the night.
He made sure we had everything we needed,
We didn’t grow up rich, but we never felt cheated.
Well, the years go by and Daddy’s gettin’ old.
But he still keeps goin’ just like he did before.
Drives that tractor but not to plow,
Picks up the bales and feeds ‘em to the cows...
Now that’s my dad..............
